  6. Add the butter and remaining oil to a frying pan and heat them—Fry the baby onions until it turns golden brown. Do this for 5 minutes.
  7. Add the onions and chestnut mushrooms to the beef mixture. Cook for 20 minutes, add salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  8. For the mash, cook the potatoes until soft in a pot of boiling salted water for 15 minutes.
  9. Drain the potatoes and then place over the heat for one minute to drive off any excess moisture.
  10. Mash the potatoes, then add butter and milk to them. Beat the mashed potatoes with a wooden spoon until it’s smooth. Add salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  11. Put the olive oil and butter in the frying pan for the garnish. Add the onions and fry until it turns brown.
