Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Beautiful, decadent, Chocolate Covered Strawberries are the perfect sweet treat to show your love this Valentine’s Day! Whether it’s your first day in the kitchen, or you’re a seasoned home cook, impress your loved ones by putting your own creative spin on this easy, 3-ingredient recipe.

This recipe combines two of my favorite ingredients… chocolate and strawberries, a match made in heaven! I always serve them as Valentine’s Day treats, but they are fabulous to serve at parties, weddings, and baby showers and are always a welcome sight during the holidays.

I’ve been making Chocolate Covered Strawberries for years, and there are two ways you can do it.

You can either use tempered chocolate, which can be challenging to make properly, or you can use Chocolate Candy Coating. I’ll be honest with you, I really do prefer using the candy coating. I’ve found over the years that chocolate candy coating is a lot easier to work with and produces beautiful and delicious results!

Ingredients Needed For This Recipe

PRO TIP: Hold onto the stem of the strawberry while you’re dipping it instead of the strawberry itself, this will ensure that each side is equally coated.

How to Make Chocolate Covered Strawberries

  • Prepare a sheet pan with parchment paper. Melt the candy coating, following the directions on the back of the package.
  • Dip strawberries into melted candy coating, making sure that every side is covered equally.
  • Place dipped strawberries on a prepared baking sheet and let sit at room temp until the candy coating has fully hardened.

PRO TIP: If you want to make these Chocolate Covered Strawberries for Valentine’s Day, you can fancy-it-up by adding red food coloring to the vanilla candy coating to dye it pink.

Tips for Making This Recipe

  • If you want both flavors of chocolate on your strawberry, I would recommend dipping and completely coating it in one flavor, and then using a fork to drizzle the opposite flavor over the top.
  • Be careful when melting the candy coating, it can burn or caramelize easily, so I would recommend stirring every 15 seconds until it’s melted and easy to work with.
  • Make sure that your strawberries are completely patted dry after you wash them. If they aren’t dried, the candy coating will not stick on properly.
  • If you’re making dessert for a crowd, this recipe is perfect since you can make a bunch at once, and it requires very little cleanup!

How to Store Chocolate Covered Strawberries

The good news is that this recipe is SUPER easy to store! Once the candy coating has completely hardened, you can stack them on top of each other in a container without worrying about smearing or melting.

These beautiful little treats will keep in the refrigerator, in an airtight container, for up to 4 days… but I doubt they’ll last that long!
